The tour is over

The Australian tour is over and I'm back home♪
I had to deal with constipation, dropping my plane ticket, my iPod breaking...
A lot of crazy things happened, but thanks to all of you I was able to overcome them and I'm really satisfied with how it went☆ This time I got to play pool with Fu-ki, go drinking, go sightseeing, and enjoy lots of other things besides the live shows (^_^) I uploaded a few photos at my Myspace so go check them out〜☆ http://www.myspace.com/miyataryou

Tour

We're leaving for Australia in a few days, but it doesn't feel real yet at all... And at the same time I haven't done anything to get ready, so I'll probably be rushing around like crazy on the day before, huh?

Actually, my birthday is just before the tour♪ So the Australian tour will be like a birthday tour☆ I'm gonna go nuts there!!!

Fingers

Yesterday I saw someone with really long, pretty fingers, and I was entranced♪

It's not gender fetishism, it's a complex...

I used to practice karate, so my fingers when in the exact opposite direction from slender and delicate (>_<)

Man, I hate it...

Sound quality rant

Since I just had my stitches out, I took the day off from studio rehearsal with BLOOD...

nothing to do♪

I live on my own in Osaka, but I'm back at my parents' house recovering☆
I actually keep a lot of equipment at my parents' house and I do a lot of my band recording here too. I share part of the recording work for BLOOD, so a lot of times I pull out the recordings I've made in my home environment, drop it in the equipment I use for the band, and adjust the sound quality so all the distortion makes it sound entirely different from my original intention (^^;) Right now it takes a little ingenuity to come up with something that sounds okay without being changed too much...

In my parents' house I record at 48 khz, but there's a big difference between that and the 44.1 khz used in the CDs... The large orchestra sound in the dynamic range is especially different... Like, if I convert a 48 khz track from a CD I bought to 44.1 khz, then convert it again for iPod use, the result is always disappointing... I used to never buy songs from iTunes because of that, but more recently songs are being sold through iTunes with new quality standards, so when I hear those it's not so bad anymore. Speaking of that, apparently there are CDs with the data recorded on glass instead of plastic which improves the sound quality, or so I heard from the popular Japanese commentator Ogura Tomoaki...

But higher sound quality isn't always better! Sometimes the band's songs are recorded at 44.1 khz, and sometimes we record the drum kick at 44.1 khz and then convert it to 22 khz for a stronger core sound. For a digitarian like me it's normal to record at a higher quality first, but there are some professionals who compose the music on a computer and re-record it on a tape recorder in the end for a softer sound. In short, it's all a matter of preference.

At any rate, there are huge differences between sound qualities☆ I think it's important for both composers and listeners to be aware of sound quality when they listen to music♪

Disease

This is not an explanation of a song〜♪ I've been sick〜♪
I was in the hospital for a week and just came home today☆ I have to re-train my weakened body for the tour coming up!!

I lost some weight, which I guess is a silver lining...
But right now I'm eating a feast in celebration of being released from the hospital〜♪ So excited...

Whew...

The Osaka live is over and I'm home♪ Thank you to everyone who traveled long distances to watch!!

I'm thinking maybe we should stop doing MCs... There was a metal band there today, and while I listened to them I remembered my own metal days and started to take another look at myself, and I thought about a lot of things... I'm actually the passionate type♪ So it makes me really worried when I can't feel passion... it's quite a problem...

Continued from last time

It was my first time in Toyama, so it was too bad I didn't get to do any sightseeing... I wanted to ride in a streetcar...

Since Suicide Ali and BLOOD were the only two bands performing, our stage time was a bit longer than usual, so that in itself meant the content was much fuller. A session with the good-looking guys of Suicide Ali, our first MC break... it was our funnest live yet♪ And after the live I got to talk a lot with a lady working at WHOOPEE'S who was far more interesting than the people in Kansai, and did the Comaneci gag by request and was in really high spirits〜☆ I think I'll keep this up and plunge into new vectors in complete opposition to the straight and narrow!!! Maybe something aesthetic in a way♪

Today is the Osaka live. It's our last live this month so I'll be careful with my performance☆

I'm back〜!!!

I just got back home〜☆ After the live in Toyama, someone from WHOOPEE'S took us to a place that serves iron pot rice dishes.
It was my first time eating pheasant sashimi so I'll upload a picture to mark the occasion〜 (^_^)
Now I'm sleepy so I'll continue some other time... goodnight *zzzzzzzzzzz*
